Suitable for competitive free skaters only aged 8 years to adults who have completed Free RS Level 2 classes. SkateNSW offers 'Rising Stars' competition as an accessible way for skaters who have completed the Learn to Skate ('SkateStars') program to commence their competitive pathway in the sport. It is designed as a Development Stream (or entry level) for participation and is divided into five levels for Free Skating. Each level requires participants to attempt a set number of skills. Level 3 - IF to IB upright spin - Loop jump - Mohawk sequence (open with F and B steps) - OF upright spin - Waltz, Toe Loop combination jump - Backward cross pulls (both directions) - Salchow jump - Mid to low space body movement Level 4 - IB to IF upright spin change combination with rolling OF edge entry - Loop jump - Mohawk sequence (closed with F and B steps) - OF upright spin - Waltz, toe loop, loop combination jump (or waltz, loop, toe loop) - Transition involving three turns and a mid space body movement - Flip jump - High space body movement Level 5 - OB upright spin - Waltz, toe loop, loop combination jump (or waltz, loop, toe loop) - Three turn sequence (both directions and must include four (4) different turns and one (1) set of travel turns) - Upright spin combination which must include an outside edge spin - Salchow or Flip, toe loop combination jump - Transition with at least one (1) bracket/rocker/counter turn and a mid space body movement - Lutz or thoren jump - Low to high space body movement Please note: 1. Skaters may compete in one Rising Stars event as CAT 4 RECREATIONAL members before upgrading to CAT 3 DEVELOPMENT membership. 2. All Rising Stars grades will be open aged. 3. There are no proficiency test requirements for Rising Stars.
